Biscuits are great because they can be adapted to all sorts of recipes sweet or savoury. So I think it's a really good alternative when you want an idea for an appetizer. These tomato and oregano biscuits taste like the south and even a little bit like pizza!
Ingredients (for 60 biscuits):
-1 1/2 cups of flour
-2/5 cup of softened butter
-2oz of grated cheddar
-1 egg
-4 teaspoons of oregano
-2 tablespoons of condensed tomato
-2 tablespoons of water
-1 teaspoon of ketchup
-salt, pepper
In a salad bowl, put the flour, the cheddar and the oregano. Add the softened butter and crumble the dough with your fingers. In a ramekin, add the water to the condensed tomato and ketchup then add this mixture to the batter and do the same with the beaten egg. Season with salt and pepper. Mix until you can form a nice ball.
Wrap this ball in film and put it in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
Preheat the oven at 350°F. Once the dough is firm, spread it on greaseproof paper, the dough mustn't be to thin than cut with a cookie cutter and then put your biscuits on a baking sheet, ground a little bit of pepper and sea salt or even herbs on the biscuits and bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
Let them cool before you serve.
